Played Saturday 10th May

Cotswold Hills League – Division 2

It was a touch of ‘c’est la vie?’ for Itchington 1st’s as there was a repeat showing to last year’s performance in the same fixture. The batting was not quite forceful enough, the bowlers not incisive, and the fielding not up to scratch.
After being asked to bat new opening pair Martyn Rawbone (18) and James Clarke (29) added 43 but the introduction of swing bowler Pratt (10-0-44-3) resulted in him collecting three quick wickets and the score subsiding to 54-3. Left handers Alex Jack (50) and George Insall (38) then added 86 in good time but just as a late inning assault was needed three more quick wickets fell including two to the returning Brown (10-1-23-2). Late runs took the final total to 178-8 despite good bowling from the main visiting bowling quartet.
Early aggression from Harper and French, especially to any loose deliveries, saw them reach 65 before French went for 22. Youngster Pratt then helped his skipper Harper take the total to 106 before the latter was out for 53.
That was the home sides last success as several chances didn’t stick as Pratt (48 n.o.) was joined by Hedderman (49 n.o.) as they eased to victory with 4 overs and 8 wickets to spare.
