L.I.C.C. v Exhall & Wixford

Published by at 2:22 pm under Match Reports,Sunday XI

Played Sunday 18th May

Itchington’s Sunday winning streak came to end as Exhall’s Antipodean contingent proved to strong.
Exhall batted first and their total of 200-9 was based around Prescott’s aggressive 105 n.o. and Smith’s 43 as no other batsmen got into double figures with Sam Pratt causing all sorts of problems for all the batsmen on his way to excellent figures of 8-0-26-4.
Jeff Rogers (37) and Alex Jack got Itchington’s reply off to a lightning start but after Rogers had run himself out wickets fell at regular intervals and despite Jack’s (87 n.o.) best efforts Itchington finished just short on 183-8 off their 40 overs. Saunders adding 2-11 to his unbeaten hundred in support of Perry who took 3-27.
Special mention must go to Steve Franks who suffered certainly the most freakish dismissal that has been seen at the home of cricket when Prescott (again) caught Steve after taking evasive action whilst fielding at short mid-off and was hit on the calf, the ball then ballooned up behind him and he somehow caught it behind his back !
