Played Sunday 8th June

On a beautiful summers day on what is probably one of the best local grounds we will play on all year, skipper Steve Chapman lost the toss and was asked to bat by there very youthful and 12 strong hosts.
For want of a better phrase openers Grindal & Jack decimated the Wellesbourne bowling attack putting 155 on the board off just 25 overs before Jack was dismissed playing a very tired looking shot on 45.
A.Mole one bowler who managed to somewhat contain the flow of runs returning figures of 7-0-22-1.
Grindal went on to smash his way to a second century of the year before retiring on a career best 114. With a flurry of late runs courtesy of Jack Arthurton 21 n.o. Itchington closed their innings on 247-5.
In reply no Wellesbourne batsman really got to grips with things and was able to do much individual damage with the exception of a very well constructed innings of 44 by Wheeler who guided the home side most of the way to their final total of 132 all out.
Itchington’s youngsters Aulak, Arthurton (2-21), McKenna (2-33) & Elkerton(?) kept things tight throughout, until the spotlight moved to Parkin (5-0-22-2) who took 2 quick wickets and effectively ended the innings. Steve ‘Tino’ Chapman also weighed in with 2-10 off 4 overs.
Aside from Will’s century the other momentous occasion occurred when Tim ‘Polo’ Parkin and Mark Woodyer took a catch each in the same match.
