Itchington 1st’s finally got a ‘W’ in their box on Saturday after totally outplaying hosts FISSC.
The home side had no hesitation in putting the villagers in and claimed an early wicket in the 6th over. Will Grindal joined Graham Foster and after surviving some good fortune they added 101 before the latter was out for 22 in the 27th over.
Grindal followed 4 runs later for an excellent 73 to the returning Kane. James Clarke (25) and Richard Cressey increased the total by 48 before George Insall with a quick fire 35 took LI to maximum batting points as Cressey was 48 not out in a final 223-5.
In turn the home side began positively and after a couple of chances went down the first wicket went at 26 in the 9th over. By the 21st over Itchington had really turned the screw and a very early finish looked in prospect at 56-6.
Home skipper Stokes dug in however and together with McKee they fashioned a stand of 45. Andy Wood (10-2-36-3) came back and dismissed the latter, further dropped catches delayed proceedings but the remainder of the tail were weaselled out for a final total 153 with Stokes unbeaten on 60, LI winning by 70 runs. Martin Clark (8-2-27-2) and Craig White (8.5-0-32-2) finishing with a couple of wickets apiece.
