L.I.C.C. 2nd XI v Stratford Bards 2nd XI
Played Saturday 26th July
Cotswold Hills League - Division 5
Itchington II’s had to field on the hottest afternoon of the year so far after a late arrival cost them the chance of claiming the toss.
Despite the heat and the batting friendly conditions Itchington’s bowlers stuck to their task and despite an excellent 81 from Harris and 37 from Russon managed to keep the run rate in check as Craig White (10-1-40-3) and Luke Fogarty (8-0-44-2) shared 5 wickets between them. Some spirited late order hitting saw Bards set a target of 196 to win.
This proved to be nowhere near enough as Will Grindal (126 n.o.) set about scoring his 5th ton of a prolific season and Jeff Rogers continued his good form with a half century and the game was finished in the 32nd over as the target was ruthlessly chased down.
