Long Itchington 1st XI v Shipston on Stour 2nd XI
Itchington 1st’s climbed of the bottom of Division 2 CHL with a well deserved will over Shipston on Saturday.
After winning the toss Itchington put the squeeze on Shipston with tight bowling from Wood and White restricting them to 29 of the first 12 over’s. It was the change bowlers however who caused the damage with Hudson and Phillips claiming 3 wickets apiece leaving the hosts at 96-6 after 36 over’s.
Only a patient 33 from French and a hard hitting 23 from Hedderman causing concern. Cox then compiled a useful 27 with a variety of partners before the innings ended on 142 after 44 over’s.
With the rain interrupting Shipston’s innings LI were left with a revised chase of 124 in 40 over’s. They got off to the worst of starts and were reeling at 3 for 2. This however bought the in-form Cressy and Jack together who shared a stand of 86 before Cressy was out for 54.
Another quick wicket followed before Steve Rawbone and Jack edged them close to victory when Rawbone departed with the score at 117. Another quick wicket followed but Jack saw the visitors home with 48 no with nearly 4 over’s and 4 wickets to spare.
