Itchington II’s hopes of being in the mix for promotion were extinguished by a ruthless Ashton-under-Hill performance.
Ashton asked Itchington to bat first on a drying wicket and Itchington never recovered from losing both openers in the 2nd over as Garland, Shirra, Cope and Banks all chipped in with 2 wickets apiece and Itchington were bundled out for just 70 runs.
Despite Tom Perk’s excellent opening burst Ashton’s openers Newman and Capaldi saw Ashton home with unbeaten 32 and 25 respectively to take a valuable 22 points in their own hunt for promotion.
