Long Itchington CC Juniors 2011 arrangements

Dear Junior Cricketers and Parents,

Summer is just around the corner so its time to think at long last of oiling cricket bats, finding pads that fit and actually playing again. This year junior indoor nets are open to everyone in the u13 and u15 age groups and newcomers are also welcome at Princethorpe School 6-00pm–7-15 pm starting Tuesday March 22nd then again on Mar 29, Apr 12, & Apr 19.

We hope to fill in Registration Forms also on those evenings, the fees are unchanged from last year at £15 Registration and £1-50 per session or game fee payable on the day.The £1-50 per session is also applicable for the indoor nets but there will be a bonus if you wish to pay £4-00 on the first evening which will cover all 4 sessions.

This year Andy Crump will be managing the u13s and I will be responsible for the u15s.

Outdoor Practise will begin for these ages at 11-15am Sunday morning 1st May with Tino, Jeff and Steve continuing from last year, and games starting either 3rd or 10th May for the u13s (Tuesday evenings) and 12th or 19th May (Thursday evenings) for the u15s although we have not as yet had official confirmation from RDCL. Both u13s and u15s will also be involved in a Cup Competition with a Finals Day at Rugby School on Sunday July 17th which could be very exciting with all Junior Finals on the same Day!

The u11s this year will be guided by Steve Rawbone and Clive Haywood and initial registration and outdoor training will be on Sunday 17th April at 9-30am. Fixtures in the WCB league will be on Monday evenings and provisionally will start on Monday 2nd May but since this is a Bank Holiday it may be changed. We have also entered an u11 team in a new RDCL league on Thursday evenings which starts on Thursday evenings from June 9th till Aug 11th which may mean a 2 week overlap as The WCB league finishes usually the 3rd week of June. As numbers were low for the u11s last year can I ask all our players to try and encourage friends, relations, boys and especially girls to come along, all with a great chance of playing our great summer game. Steve Mitchell went along to Long Itchington Junior School last year to coach the youngsters so if anyone would like to sample the real thing this is a great opportunity to do so.

Finally the u17s this year will all be most welcome at the seniors indoor nets at Princethorpe School 7-15–9-00pm on March 22nd,29th, Apr 12th,19th.and at Senior Outdoor Nets on Wednesday Evenings as the season begins. There is a RDCL league and Cup competition which will start later (hopefully after Exams) on Tuesday Evenings starting on Tuesday 21st June till Tuesday 9th August with the Cup Final on July 17th at Rugby School. This year we are very very keen to encourage any u16 and u17 Players to become involved in Senior weekend games and both Tino (Sunday Captain) and Graham Foster (Saturday Second Team Captain) are particularly looking for cricketers who would like to commit themselves to play regularly in the longer version of the game and would welcome any discussions at the indoor net sessions.
In conclusion I apologise for such a lengthy e-mail but its been a long close season, can I wish everyone a great season and look forward to hopefully a beautiful summer.
