Hunningham v L.I.C.C.

Published by Dave Buchholz under Friendly, Match Reports

Played Sunday 27th April

Itchington’s 2nd string had a run out with a view to League action starting next weekend and on winning the toss skipper Dave Buchholz had no hesitation in inviting their hosts to bat on a green tinged wicket.

Early strikes from Wood (6-2-13-1) and Franks (8-0-14-3) gave Itchington the advantage before Pettifer (16) and Smail (37) rebuilt the innings with some lusty blows. Spin twins Crosthwaite (8-1-25-2) and Fogarty (4-0-21-2) dismissed them respectively and Hunningham were hanging on at 110-8 after 32 overs as the heavens opened.

Hunningham sportingly declared as an early tea was taken in an attempt to get a game in but after only 5.4 overs of the Itchington reply the heavens opened again to end all hopes of finishing the game. Finch managed to take a wicket (3-0-5-1) in the time available but Itchington’s batsmen were denied time in the middle by the weather.
