Long Itchington 2nd X1 versus Ashton Under Hill 2nd X1 May 22nd 2010
On what seemed like the first day of summer LI 2ndX1 entertained AUH 2nd X1 at the Whitehall Farm ground the pitch looked perfect for batting in fact it was a shirt front track whereby some 560 odd runs were to be scored in 82 overs.
LI asked Ashton to take first knock even though temperatures by mid afternoon touched 80 degrees the premise of this decision was the strong LI depth of batting.
It appeared to be a poor decision as the forceful Capaldi (53) and Garland (27) added 70 for the first wicket. All the other batsman got well into double figures and the strong batting line up of the Itchington boys looked like a mountain would be needed to be climbed for a win. The AUH innings closed on 228 for 6 which included 42 extras. All the Li bowlers stuck to task extremely well and were helped by some good catches and fielding notably and excellent run out by Foster from the deep. Bucholz 1 for 45, Chapman 2 for 45, Rawbone 1 for 52, Franks 1 for 42 and the reliable Phillips 0 for 29 off 9 overs all stuck to task.
The LI batsman started well and the openers looked in good touch until a mix up in the running had the unfortunate Rawbone heading back to the pavilion. This did not deter the in form Foster who with Rogers took the score to 95 before Rogers was caught of a leading edge for 24. Smith joined Foster and the partnership changed the game towards a win for the home side when Smith was out the score had jumped to 215 with Smith departing for a hard hit 69 off 52 balls Foster followed for a man of the match innings of 83. Jones and Parsons brought the spoils and a hard earnt 21 points home in the 37th over.

Long Itchington 2nd X1 versus Alvechurch3rd X1 15th May 2010-05-17
Long Itchington 2nd X1 entertained Alvechurch 3rd X1 at the Whitehall Farm ground in a game that swung two and fro which either side could have won unfortunately this time Li were the unlucky losers.
LI batted first and struggled to 140 for 9 the only batsman that overcame the accurate Alvechurch attack were Rawbone (46) Foster (24) and Jones (28) all 3 bats sticking doggedly to task.
Alvechurch started briskly Rattling up 30 after 4 over’s before Chapman and Phillips put the brake on the scoring with Chapman bowling his 10 over’s 3 maidens 2 for 18 and Phillips 10 over’s 2 maidens 3 for 24 this was backed up by Crosthwaite 2 for 34 and two excellent run outs one by Hudson and the other by Chapman. This progressed Alvechurch to 90 for 9 in what looked like a sure win for LI but last man Alvechurch captain Jenkins (6 no) and the impressive Khan (62 no) won the day to give Alvechurch 16 points and LI 6 points.
