L.I.C.C. v Shipston on Stour (28-07-2007)

Played Saturday, July 28th 2007

After performing miracles to get their game on after last weekends inundation Itchington let themselves down with a below par effort on the field.

After being sent in the home side lost a wicket in the 5th over but Martyn Rawbone and Aaron Jones took the score to 76 in the 23rd over before the latter was dismissed for 13. Rawbone was 3rd out for 79 in the 33rd over having added 57 with Alex Jack. The required acceleration failed to materialise however, despite Jack (27) and George Insall (21), with the final total being 185-7 with Wickson and Harper getting two wickets apiece.

In reply Harper and Bishop put on 43 as the wicket flattened out as the Itchington’s bowlers didn’t get much luck. Bishop was first to go at 43 for 27 but Wickson joined Harper for a match winning stand. Batting with care but dispatching anything loose they added 129 before Wickson finally succumbed to Martin Clark for 53. Skipper Hedderman hit the winning runs with 8 balls to spare with Harper completing a fine match with an unbeaten 88. Clark (10-2-36-2) being the only wicket taker.
